Briefly describe your job… what do you really do at EL?
I am a graphic designer in the Marketing department. I create engaging visuals for multiple platforms and campaigns with my team.
What do you like about working at EL?
I enjoy working with a motivated and highly skilled team that supports teachers and students. I also learn so much about Math and Science along with the projects which is fun!
What's the most seriously fun thing you've ever done?
Playing guitar in a band for 1 week (back in the old days) and realize that I do love making visual art more. I then decided to study illustration and graphic design and have fun every day.
Tell us about one of your STEM mentors. Who inspired you, and how?
Not really a mentor, but I loved reading about Marie Curie. I read her biography as a kid. It inspired me a lot to learn more and have perseverance for things that I’m passionate about.
What big STEM accomplishment do you think we’ll see happen in the next 100 years, and why are you excited about it?
I still wait for the hoverboards from the movie “Back to the Future”. I would be excited to see flying hoverboards, or other accomplishments that makes travelling easier and fun.
Why is STEM education important, in your personal opinion?
I think STEM education is important because it inspires us and gives us appreciation for the technology and science around us.
Time travel… past or future?
Past: I would love to learn more about our history and see cultures from the past with my own eyes. It would also be amazing to see real dinosaurs (in a safe way… of course).
Artificial intelligence… friend or foe?
Friend. I think that AI will allow us to advance in many areas and I am very excited about this. But I am also critical about how some AI programs got developed and used artist’s artwork to be trained on without the artist’s consent. It is important to understand the responsibilities that come with developing and using AI.
How long would you survive a zombie apocalypse? Why?
Not very long. I would miss on stocking up toilet paper and food before the apocalypse.
Chemistry or Biology
Chemistry: It is very fascinating to me to learn more about chemical processes that work behind the scenes in our bodies and in nature. Our chemistry teacher made it very clear that chemistry is basically everywhere around us. Technically, everyone is doing chemistry by simple cooking a meal, or using specific processes to prepare food, too.
Algebra or Geometry

Learning a language. Growing up in a multicultural household I think that language can be a great way to connect with people and learn more about different perspectives and cultures from other countries.

Deep sea: Did you know that only 1/20 of the ocean has been explored by humans? And 7/10 of earth is covered in ocean (just learned this today at work). There’s so much to discover!

The middle. Not too far back to have trouble understanding the teacher. Not in the front, which would make the teacher see me making doodles in my books.
