Mario Junco

Senior Implementation Coordinator

quote start quote end I love seeing the looks on kids faces when they “get it” when modeling Gizmo lessons for their teachers.

What 3-5 adjectives best describe you?
Tenacious, loyal, obsessive.

Briefly describe your job… what do you really do at EL?
I train teachers in how to use Gizmos and STEM Cases mostly in Miami Dade but have trained plenty in other districts across the country. I make sure that teachers, as well as building and district administrators are aware of Gizmos and how they should be used to teach math and science.

What do you like about working at EL?
Having the true belief that EL has the absolute best products to teach math and science makes it easy to train teachers in using them. I love seeing the looks on kids faces when they “get it” when modeling Gizmo lessons for their teachers so that they see the value of our products.

What's the most seriously fun thing you've ever done?
Get to explore different Gizmos and STEM Cases before I show teachers how to use them.

Why is STEM education important, in your personal opinion?
It is THE most important type of education. People need to be scientifically literate in order to make good choices in life for themselves, family and society in general. STEM careers is what leads to all the technology and medicines that improve and/or maintain high living standards.

How long would you survive a zombie apocalypse? Why?
Years I would hope. While I am not what would be termed a “preparation nut” I have always been a preparer for things such as hurricanes. Also having been a “Walking Dead” fan since day 1, I have observed what I believe what would be necessary to survive including gathering the right materials and placing oneself in the best places geographically speaking.
