Briefly describe your job… what do you really do at EL?
My job focuses on two main things: Providing support for our customers and working with my Team Lead and Manager to improve processes/procedures to make sure our team is working efficiently and following company policies. I also provide much of the initial and ongoing product training to new employees and contractors.
What do you like about working at EL?
My favorite part of helping with our products and/or technical issues is getting to put on my detective hat and really dig in to what the root case of the problem is and how to fix it.
What's the most seriously fun thing you've ever done?
Going to Disney in Orlando as an adult!
Tell us about one of your STEM mentors. Who inspired you, and how?
When I was working in healthcare, I was given the opportunity to work closely with the practice’s Project & Technology Coordinator. She was around the same age as me and we even shared the same first name! While I was working on projects with her, Amanda taught me her approach to problem-solving in a way I hadn’t thought about before. When we were presented with “This isn’t working like it should”, the first question she would ask herself was “Why not? What could be preventing this from working like it should?” This taught me how to focus on the other factors that could be involved that could be causing issues. I learned a lot about both technology and trouble-shooting from Amanda, which I believe has helped me tremendously working in this field.
